If you could only watch one TED talk , this is the one...
Click here and see Blaise Aguera y Arcas lead a dazzling demo of Photosynth, software that could transform the way we look at digital images. Using still photos culled from the Web, Photosynth builds breathtaking dreamscapes and lets us navigate them.
Once you have listened to the talk (3 minutes or so), go on over to http://photosynth.net/default.aspx, see the incredible image sets he has created and try your hand at creating a 3-D of your own.
Office 07 HELP
If you are having trouble using the new Office 07 programs, click here to open a utility program that looks like Word 03; when you click through the steps for a function, this utility will show you the steps you need in Word 07. If that doesn't work, sign up at the desk for free "transition" tutoring on Friday mornings at 8:30. Another choice would be using Open Office on the Linux machines (#s 9 and 15). Open Office Word Processing looks and acts very much like Word 03 and might be quicker.
